Training adventures in photos

I’ll never make it as a running influencer. Apart from having done influencer work before it was called that and knowing it’s a LOT of work and ruins fun, I just don’t like photos of me.

But I do take a lot of photos.

When I planned this article, I planned to just use photos from running. Unfortunately, some of the better photos were taken on bike rides.

The photos

The lamp store

I wish I could run by and re-take this photo on a slightly better angle. The mass of colour in the dark was stunning. alas, it’s along a route with so many hills I never want to run it again. And the hills are so steep, I’m not taking the bike there either.

Heron Point

I don’t think I’ve ever run (or walked) Blackburn Lake without stopping for a photo at Heron Point. Gorgeously pretty and serene. Also, where my brain says I married the brilliant James. Of course, an unexpected heat wave meant we didn’t, but in my mind we did.

Docklands in grey

This would be prettier if it was sunny. I only made a pre-work run once while at Transurban. Mornings are hard. I had a few photo stops during this run. Because the waterfront is pretty, right. It wasn’t because I needed breaks.

The Bolte Bridge in the background also makes a dramatic photo. Here’s one I took that wasn’t while training.

Mushrooms for dinner?

OK, these are not death cap mushrooms. Trail runs mean great photos–and no pressure for a good pace. It’s almost worth agreeing to stupidly early runs with Michelle.

Don’t give up your ghost

Thanks for the advice, Lego Man.

Commute shadows

The first was me trying to get a good shadow selfie while stopped at the lights. Yeah, the Gardiners Creek Trail crosses a couple of roads and has traffic lights.

Second is just one of the many pretty sunsets in Melbourne.

The featured photo was during a recent run in Stawell. When I was a kid I decided this was a haunted house. No evidence of it, or even local lore. Just me with a creative imagination.
